Kite Insights Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organisation. We exist to help more people develop the understanding, confidence and agency to navigate a rapidly changing world, and to strengthen the workplaces and communities they are part of.
Our challenge
We are living through one of the most profound periods of change in modern history.
Climate change, artificial intelligence, shifting labour markets and geopolitical instability are reshaping how we live and work. Democratic systems are under pressure, information integrity is harder to protect, and trust in many institutions is weakening. Growing polarisation is making it harder to find the common ground on which collective action depends.
These changes bring extraordinary opportunities. They also increase uncertainty, and make it harder for people to know where they can make a difference.
While enormous effort goes into understanding these transformations, far less is invested in helping people navigate them with confidence. People are increasingly expected to make sense of profound change with remarkably little support.
That is the challenge the Kite Insights Foundation exists to address.
Our belief
We believe that stronger communities begin with stronger people.
Communities become more resilient when the people within them have the understanding, confidence and agency to navigate change together. Resilience is not a destination; it is a capability that can be developed. Our role is not simply to raise awareness, but to equip people with the knowledge, skills, human capacities and tools they need to adapt, contribute and thrive.
Resilience is also social. Building it means aligning people around shared values, mindsets and, over time, a common culture. A community cannot strengthen itself without a degree of cohesion.
Confidence is the fuel for action. Capability is the potential. Cohesion is the glue that holds it together.

How we work
Our work brings together four complementary capabilities.
Understand
Everything starts with understanding. We combine research, dialogue and behavioural insight to understand the realities, needs and aspirations of workers and communities. By listening first, we ensure that lived experience shapes everything we create.
Equip
We translate insight into practical learning experiences, digital tools and accessible resources that help people build the understanding, confidence and agency to navigate an increasingly complex world.
Connect
We create opportunities for people to learn with and from one another through thoughtfully curated conversations, partnerships and communities of practice.
Catalyse
We work alongside funders, employers, civil society organisations and innovators to develop, fund and scale initiatives that strengthen people, workplaces and communities.
Our first focus: building workforce agency
The Foundation's initial primary focus is helping workers and workplaces build the understanding, confidence and agency they need to navigate a rapidly changing world.
Much of this work is currently delivered through Hurd, a free learning platform developed by Kite Insights that enables learning, connection and participation at scale. The Foundation's role is not to fund a platform, but to help more people, and by extension more communities, benefit from it.
The Foundation supports the development of public-benefit programmes delivered through Hurd, including:
- Agency Sprints helping workers understand fast-moving issues such as AI, climate and health.
- Occupation Pathways tailored to the realities of different professions.
- Worker Voice initiatives ensuring that workers' experiences help shape public understanding and future programmes.
- Stories of Action that demonstrate practical solutions and inspire peer learning.
- Strategic partnerships that expand the reach and impact of these programmes.
Over time, the Foundation expects to pursue its mission through additional programmes and partnerships. Hurd is its first and primary delivery platform, but not the limit of its ambition.
Our relationship with Kite Insights
Kite Insights Foundation is a separate legal entity from Kite Insights Limited.
Rather than building expertise, platforms and relationships from scratch, the Foundation builds on more than a decade of experience developed by Kite Insights. Through that partnership, the Foundation benefits from deep expertise in complex environmental, technological and societal change; a proven ability to understand the needs and aspirations of workers and communities; expertise in learning design, storytelling and convening; and a trusted global network spanning philanthropy, business, academia, civil society, media and expert communities.
Kite Insights Limited develops commercial and client-facing work. The Foundation exists to direct philanthropic investment towards the people, programmes and communities it serves, drawing on those capabilities for the public good.
Governance
Kite Insights Foundation is a private company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales, company number 17133239.
Its Articles state that the Foundation operates on a non-profit basis for the public benefit, and that its income and property must be applied solely towards its objects.
We are currently building out the board and governance arrangements that will support future fundraising and activity.
